Exterior Features of the 2012 Kia Rio For Sale Baltimore at Bob Bell
The new Rio’s redesign takes some styling from the Optima family sedan, including a chrome-ringed grille that flows to wraparound headlights. The Rio5 is a hatchback and has a sharp designed rear, finished with a slightly swept liftgate.
The LX trims come with 15” styled steel wheels, colored door handles and mirrors, and no power locks. The upgrade to an EX gets power locks and keyless entry. The upgrade to the SX boasts 17-inch aluminum rims, fog lights, LED running lights and taillights, chrome exhaust pipe and heated mirrors with built in turn-signal lights.
Both of the Rio's cabins get an all-new interior 2012, and there's a greater focus on distinctive design. The driver controls are well thought out and easy to reach. The Rios get a pair of very comfortable front bucket seats and three seat belts in back, the Rio in a pinch has room for five people.
LX models have a standard height-adjustable driver's seat and a CD stereo with auxiliary and USB inputs. The midlevel EX has standard power windows with an automatic up/down feature for the driver, Bluetooth connectivity and a 60/40-split folding backseat.
SX models add metal pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, illuminated vanity mirrors, a trip computer, cruise control, and Kia's Uvo communication and entertainment system that incorporates a backup camera. SX models can have the optional Premium Package, which includes a navigation system, push-button start, heated front seats, leather upholstery and a moonroof.
Under the Hood
The Rio has a 138-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that’s hooked to a smooth shifting six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Included with the Eco Package is an auto-stop engine that shuts down the engine automatically when you come to a stop, it then restarts when the brake pedal is released. With this system, city gas mileage is expected to increase by 1 mpg. New for the Rio is a direct fuel injection system usually found on more expensive vehicles.
Safety
Standard safety features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags and an electronic stability system that is government mandated for all 2012 cars.
